David Byrne, Scotland's sensational multi genre artist is bringing his signature sounds to the Keller Auditorium!
David Byrne was born in Dumbarton (Scotland) in 1952 and is a singer, songwriter, writer, actor, director, film producer, record producer, and multi-instrumentalist (guitar, bass piano, keyboards, synthesizer, slide guitar, harmonica, autoharp, harmonium, violin, and accordion). Over the years, his musical style has spanned many genres such as new wave (a genre of rock music that moved away from smooth blues and rock and roll sounds to create pop music that incorporated electronic and experimental music, mod, and disco), post punk (a broad type of rock music that emerged from the punk movement of the 1970s, in which artists departed from the traditional garage rock template of punk to pursue a variety of avant garde sensibilities), art rock (a sub genre of rock music that generally reflects a challenging or avant garde approach to rock, and is often distinguished by the use of electronic effects and easy listening textures far removed from the propulsive rhythms of early rock), art pop, and worldbeat (a genre that blends Western pop music or rock music with world music or folk music influences). He's best known as the founding member, principal songwriter, and lead singer and guitarist of the American new wave band Talking Heads. He's also had a stellar solo career with 11 studio albums.
